Circular packaging markets are becoming closer and closer to reality as producers and suppliers look to ways to reduce the cost and impact of packaging.
The Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) is a co-regulatory not-for-profit which is leading the development of a circular economy for packaging in Australia.
Alison Appleby, APCO Member Services Manager, joined the group in 2017 and now leads a team who support APCO members as they work toward making more sustainable packaging decisions. She will outline the group’s objectives as a speaker at the upcoming PACKWINE Forum & Expo.
“APCO work with governments, businesses and other organisations from across Australia’s large and complex packaging value chain to develop the insights, resources and programs that are needed to build a sustainable national packaging ecosystem,” Appleby said.
Over the last five years she has supported the development of over 100 resources, presented at an array of conferences and workshops across the country, provided support to members on regulatory obligations, and contributed to improved technology development within the organisation.
With a background in science and a Masters of Environmental Management, Alison is passionate about sustainability and educating others to help reduce the impacts of packaging on the environment.
PACKWINE is now in its second year and continues to shine a spotlight on the important role of packaging in the wine industry. PACKWINE 2022 is both a print and digital event that includes a forum featuring industry expert speakers. An Expo Hall will also allow leading suppliers to display their products and services. The PACKWINE Design Awards will also highlight the year’s best wine packaging.
The PACKWINE Forum & Expo will be published in the September 2022 issue of the Australian & New Zealand Grapegrower & Winemaker, the wine industry’s leading publication, while digital content will also be published online.
