About this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy outlines how we manage customers’ personal information. It also describes generally the sorts of personal information held and for what purposes, and how that information is collected, held, used and disclosed.

Our Privacy Policy applies to all our dealings with customers.

Collecting personal information – subscribers, purchasers or advertisers

If you are acquiring or have acquired a product or service from Winetitles Media, we will collect and hold your personal information for the purposes of:

  • providing you with the relevant product or service (e.g. sending the magazines or sending a book, or invoice or account)
  • managing and administering the product or service

We may collect and hold your personal information for the purpose of letting you know about products or services from across the company that might better serve your needs; or for advising you of or promotions or other opportunities that we believe may benefit your business.

The information collected may include your name, postal or email address, occupation in the wine or grape industry, how you found out about our company, or other information the organisation considers necessary or that you provide to us.

We usually will collect your personal information from you. This may happen when you fill out a subscription form or an administrative form (e.g. a change of address form) or when you give us personal information over the telephone or counter, or through our website.

Marketing our products and services

We may use your personal information to let you know about products and services from across Winetitles Media. For example, we may contact you with information on Wine & Viticulture Journal if you are a new subscriber to Grapegrower & Winemaker. You can contact us at any time if you no longer wish us to send these promotions or information to you (see “Contacting Us” below).

Information collected from surveys

Information provided in surveys that are conducted from time to time is used for market feedback and statistical purposes. Where information is shared to delegates or parties outside of Winetitles Media, we will not disclose personal contact information unless consent has been received.

Keeping your personal information accurate and up-to-date

We may use your personal information supplied to us for a particular product to update other product databases. For example, we may use the information supplied to us when purchasing a book to update our magazine subscription databases.

Protecting your personal information

We store information in different ways, including in paper and electronic form. The security of your personal information is important to us and we take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse and loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Some of the ways we do this are:

  • back-up and archiving systems
  • security measures for systems access (passwords to terminals containing databases)
  • training for staff involved in database programs and maintenance
  • providing a discreet environment for confidential matters
  • only allowing access to personal information where the individual seeking access has satisfied our identification requirements
  • security for the building
  • the security measures described below under “Our Websites “.

Your privacy on the Internet

Our Websites

We take care to ensure that the personal information you give us on our websites is protected. For example, our websites have electronic security systems in place.

Links to Other Sites

You may be able to access external websites by clicking on links we have provided. Those other websites are not subject to our privacy standards, policies and procedures. You will need to contact or review those websites directly to ascertain their privacy standards, policies and procedures.

Gaining access to your personal information

You can gain access to your personal information. Contact us to request access ( see “Contacting Us ” below). In some cases we may be able to deal with your request over the telephone or at reception. We may require up to 72 hours to deal appropriately with your request.

Acquisition or Changes in Ownership

In the event that the web site (or a substantial portion of its assets) is acquired, your information would be considered part of those assets, and may be part of those assets that are transferred.

Policy Modifications

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. All changes will be posted here.

If you have any issues you wish to raise with us, or would like to discuss any issues about our Privacy Policy, then you are able to do so a number of ways:

  • You are always welcome to speak directly to our staff (08) 8369 9500 and they will do their best to resolve your issue. If investigation is required we will keep you advised of progress. If staff are unable to resolve the matter, it will be escalated as appropriate to facilitate resolution.

People's Choice

All entries will be live on the PACKWINE website.

Forum attendees will have access to vote prior to the event. People’s Choice is open to all submissions. Exhibitors will be allowed one ballot per company. Voting will end at 5pm 19 May 2023. The winners package(s) will be displayed on the PACKWINE 2023 Home page.

Initial entry

Complete the online entry form by 30 April 2023.

If your design includes specific components (closure, label, etc.) please include images detailing all components included in design.

PLEASE NOTE: You will not be asked to submit bottles of your wine to enter this award - your entry will be judged on the images of the packaging and its components that you supply. 

If your entry includes multiple pieces, please label the images that should be included in the competition. Please include in file name and submission information total number of images (image 1 of 3, image 2 of 3, etc.).

We request you send a minimum:

  • up to two bottle/packaging shot and/or
  • one romance/press/marketing material shot image (optional)
  • images of each design component as necessary (closure, label, etc.)
  • anything else required below

Resolution:

  • Web resolution images (72 dpi)

File types:

  • TIF
  • EPS
  • PDF
  • JPG
  • PNG

Category Specific Image Requirements

For entries in the Best Classic Format Package Design and Best Luxury Package Design, only 1 piece will be judged.

For entries in the Best Alternative Format Package Design category, image of packages should be submitted exactly as they are sold at retail.

For entries in the Best Package Redesign category, send images of the former package along with the redesigned package.

For entries in the Best Package Series Design category, submit images of between two (2) and five (5) packages from the series.

For entries in the Best Presentation & Gift Packs category, image of entries should be submitted as they would be received by the consumer.

Please note that case packs and other packaging accessories will not be judged.

* If you are submitting multiple entries, an online receipt is required for each entry.

* Previous PACKWINE Design Award winners are not eligible to re-enter the same product again.

Shortlist

If shortlisted, you will be contacted and asked to supply high-resolution images of the shortlisted design.

PLEASE NOTE: You will not be asked to submit bottles of your wine to enter this award - we will only accept images of the packaging and its components. 

These high-resolution images are to be sent via WeTransfer to [email protected]

We request you send a minimum:

  • one bottle shot and
  • two romance/press/marketing material shot images
  • images of each component as necessary (closure, label, etc.)

You are able to send as many photos of the shortlisted design as you like.

These high-resolution images must meet these specifications:

Colour:

  • Full colour

Resolution:

  • High-resolution 300 dpi at A3 (420mm wide x 297mm high)

File types:

  • TIF
  • EPS
  • PDF (for label designs only)

You are eligible to compete if you are an Australian or New Zealand winery or winemaker, wine industry packaging supplier, marketing or graphic designer. The entry is eligible if it contains wine from an Australian or New Zealand appellation and is currently commercially available in 2022 - 2023. For purposes of this contest, submissions can include wine boxes, wine bottles, wine bags or cans. 3-litre maximum. No individual parts or prototypes—complete packages only.

Please note that entry into the contest does not guarantee that the entered package will be displayed at the forum (see below). PACKWINE Forum & Expo and Winetitles Media reserves the right use the photograph of any entry and reproduce it in publications, forum marketing efforts, on our websites and social media. Please ensure that you have your brand owner's consent before entering.

Winners of last years awards cannot re-enter the same product this year. This competition can be promoted in traditional media, except where individual entries are promoted with the express purpose of securing People’s Choice votes. Any entries promoted for this purpose may be ineligible for judging.

Entries submitted without completing online entry form will not be accepted.

The 2023 PACKWINE Design Awards will be judged by an independent panel of wine industry and design industry experts.

Judging Criteria

Category: Best Classic Format Package Design

This category is open to traditional 750ml bottles. Packages will be judged on their visual appeal, design functionality, appropriateness for the price segment and the creative utilisation of the classic bottle format. Note: Only 1 bottle per entry should be submitted for this category.

Category: Best Alternative or Sustainable Package Design

This category is open to any packaging not in a 750ml glass bottle format (unless the glass bottle is sustainable eg. re-usable design). Examples include: canned wines, bag in box, large format, and designs which utilise reusable and environmentally friendly materials, etc. Packages will be judged on their visual appeal, design functionality, appropriateness for the price segment and creative utilisation of the alternative or sustainable packaging format. Note: Image of packages should be submitted exactly how they are sold at retail.

Category: Best Luxury Package Design

Open to any packaging format that retails for $50 and higher at a 750ml equivalent, whose packages are designed to compete and succeed on high-end restaurant wine lists and in fine wine shops against luxury wines from around the world. Packages will be judged on their visual appeal, design functionality, appropriateness for the price segment and quality of packaging materials used. Note: Only 1 bottle per entry should be submitted for this category.

Category: Best Package Redesign

To enter this category, please send an image of the former package along with the redesigned package (2 bottles total). The redesign must have been commercially available in 2022 -2023. Packages will be judged on the successfulness of the redesign, their visual appeal, design functionality and appropriateness for the price segment.

Category: Best Package Series Design

The Best Package Series Design is open to entries consisting of two or more wine packages that work together as a cohesive whole. To enter this category, please submit images of between two (2) and five (5) packages from the series. Packages will be judged on the cohesiveness of the series, their visual appeal as a series and as individual bottles, design functionality and appropriateness for the price segment.

Category: Best Presentation & Gift Pack Design

This category is open to gift packs, holiday sets, wooden boxes, subscription packs and presentation cases. To be eligible for this category, your entry must include an image of the presentation packaging or gift pack along with the wine(s) housed within the packaging. The packaging will be judged on the cohesiveness of the set, their visual appeal as a set and as individual pieces, design functionality and appropriateness for the price segment. Note: Image of entries should be submitted as they would be received by the consumer. This category is not open to cardboard shipping boxes.

Please note that cardboard shipping boxes and other packaging accessories will not be judged.
