Mission Estate Huchet

Huchet wines represent the ultimate expression of winemaking at Mission Estate Winery in the Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. This premium range of wines are named in tribute and proudly honour Brother Cyprian Huchet, who was New Zealand’s pioneering winemaker in 1871. Produced in very limited quantities and only in outstanding vintages, the packaging required an elegant design solution which honours his contribution and heritage and reflects the premium price point of these top tier wines.

Two sizes of label fomats were needed in the Huchet series to fit both varietals. For the Bordeaux expression, we designed an elongated label that compliments the slender bottle. An elegant and minimalist approach to typography was required to ensure the embellishments and heritage stand proudly in a contemporary expression that will remain timeless for many years to come.

The Huchet namesake and the iconic ethereal Angel’s wings are the focal point on our label design expression. The wings are a symbol of St Cyprian and the devotion in the making of these wines. The label required impreccable craftsmanship in every detail to embue classic timelessess and sophistication. Print finishes and embellshments feature Sculpted 3D embossing on the angel wings, two foils (Pearl and Gold), a premium textured uncoated label stock and gloss highbuild, requiring two passes & an uncompromising attention to detail on the printing press. The colour palette is classically minimal and reflects the French origins of Brother Cyprian Huchet with Red, White and Blue. The 'Since 1851' messaging boldy appears on the tin capsule proudly reflecting the heritage of our winery.

The packaging result is a bold wine of heart and depth. Every sip a celebration of the life and legacy of a remarkable visionary and celebrating Mission's proud heritage. Regal gold foils are complimented with the pearlised foil embossed wings which catch the light in an ethereal way. A premium foiled single bottle gift box accompanies the wine packaging at the point of sale.
