Bull in a China Shop – Half Cut, Canned

Introducing Half Cut. This wine’s distinctive flavour and perfume will enchant your senses. It is made from grapes obtained from our own cool climate vineyards and its beautiful texture and fresh taste are hallmarks of this.
This Wine has a precious dewdrop colour, ranging from light green to copper hues. It’s a lighter, off-dry wine with a lower alcohol content than most because of the Organic Sauvignon Blanc skins that were rehydrated and fermented to create it. Half cut is a piquette wine, which means “prickle” in French. On the palate, you will notice a slight prickly sensation, Similar to mild Kombucha, accompanied by a lively freshness.

Pair this wine with a charcuterie board to spicy fish tacos, and you won’t be disappointed. It’s also vegan friendly, so more people can enjoy it.

Try it out to experience the difference for yourself.
Design Challenges
Maintaining the wine's flavour and aroma is one of our key concerns. Typically, wine is kept in glass bottles with corks or screw closures, which limit oxygen exposure and keep the wine fresh. Cans, however, have more surface area than bottles, which might speed up the rate of air exposure and change the wine's flavour and aroma. Designing a beautiful and eye-catching can is another difficult task. Wine bottles frequently include elaborate artwork and labels that transmit crucial details about the wine's country of origin, vintage, and flavour character. Cans, however, have a lower surface area and might not be as suitable for intricate designs. We had to figure out how to produce a design that is aesthetically pleasing while also being educative and giving customers the knowledge they need to make an informed decision. In order to accomplish this, it may be necessary to use imaginative visuals, striking hues, and labelling that conveys essential details regarding the wine’s vintage, Grape Variety, and flavour profile. The design must also take into account stackability, portability and storage space. Ultimately, designing a wine in a canned form necessitates striking a delicate balance.
Design Solution
A difficult balancing act between preserving the wine's quality and creating an aesthetically appealing, informative, and practical package design is ultimately required when designing a wine that will be sold in cans. We wanted to create a design that meets our customer’s needs for convenience, portability, and quality while still having a striking design that could be instantly recognised. We did this by having a bright red colour and our Bull in a China Shop Artwork on a fully recyclable can and bold messaging encouraging our customers to recycle in line with our sustainability views here at the winery.
Design Impact
It's a striking design that attracts attention. We believe we have a product that is eye catching and functional in everything it needs to do. We wanted something that would stand out in a crowd.
