Quilty & Gransden Sauvignon Wines

Our purpose is simple, we want to get as many people drinking the great wines from Orange as we can. Quilty & Gransden wines are an affordable entry point for people to enjoy the elegant wines that Orange are becoming famous for.

Orange, New South Wales has long been regarded as a premium region that is home to a number of outstanding producers, however, the wines from this region have typically been too expensive for the majority of consumers. Our goal with Quilty & Gransden was to create a range that showcases the outstanding wines of the Orange region, whilst remaining accessible to the everyday consumer.

Our goal for this project was to communicate the key traits of both the Orange Wine Region as well as our Quilty & Gransden brand through the medium of a visually striking product.
For the Orange region, these traits were primarily the themes of "elegance", "quality" and "premium", whilst the themes of "simplicity", "accessibility" and "affordability" resonated with Quilty & Gransden. These themes do not always go hand in hand, which forced us to work hard to equally integrate the core values of both the Orange region and Quilty & Gransden.

Our philosophy for Quilty & Gransden was to keep things simple - purchasing wine can be an intimidating experience for consumers, so we really wanted to de-clutter the package and in turn, allow the most important features of the design to shine.
We took our inspiration for the design from craft beer producers, using blocks of pastel colours to represent the grape variety. These colours are nicely contrasted against a textured white background which is used to highlight the brand. In terms of hierarchy, it is again very simple. All that is mentioned is the brand, region, variety and vintage. We also incorporate the words "elegant, cool climate" above the variety to help convey the stylistic qualities of the wine, but it also emphasises the aforementioned key traits of the Orange region.

A burnt Orange capsule (embossed with the text "Wine of Orange") captures the attention of consumers and playfully hints at the region from which the wine comes from.
